The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church held Divine Liturgy at the Transfiguration Cathedral of the monastery.

At the Holy Liturgy, a fifth year seminarian Deacon Ioann Novikov was ordained presbyter by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill.

Very Reverend Igumen Ioann, the Rector of the Nikolo-Ugreshskaya Seminary, addressed His Holiness Patriarch Kirill in a welcoming speech delivered on behalf of the teaching staff and students of the seminary.  He expressed gratitude to His Holiness for unceasing attention that He pays to our spiritual school and gifted the Primate Kirill with the first Russian church-and-historical edition of the book “Church calendar with troparions, kontakions and chronicles”, published in 1646 in Moscow under Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich and Patriarch Iosif.

In a word of reply, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill made a special mention of the favorable activity of the Nikolo-Ugreshskaya Theological Seminary. The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church expressed a desire for the Theological Seminary on Ugresh to actively develop further, growing from strength to strength.
